Camilla Albertovna Benois

Camilla Albertovna Benoit (1878 - 1953), daughter of the artist Albert Benois and pianist Maria Karlovna Kind, came from a prominent artistic and musical family. Since childhood, being in the atmosphere of a multi-faceted creative life, Camilla absorbed the love of the visual arts. Camilla Albertovna received an excellent artistic and musical education and was equally gifted in art, music and literature. She became the wife of Dmitry Leonidovich Horvat (1859-1937), in the 1902-1918 biennium. She was manager of CEL. After the revolution of one of the leaders of the Far East emigration, Benoit was active with social activities in Harbin. Camille Albertovna lived in Beijing from 1920 to 1947. Her artistic life contained singing, playing the piano and painting. She was a professor at the Beijing National Conservatory, was the chairman of the Beijing Russian charity society.
